The biennial IBMS Congress may still be 12 months away but now is the time to add it to your training and development plans. The various discounts available for this premier event in the biomedical science calendar are also worth considering at the earliest opportunity.
In view of the constraints on funding that exist currently in the health service, the IBMS has again given careful consideration to the ways in which biomedical scientists can maximise the value of the Biomedical Science Congress – scientifically, professionally, vocationally and financially. Once again, the IBMS will offer a Premium Early discount for those who register and pay their fees by the end of March. Reproduced here are all the 2011 delegate rates. The net costs remain at the level of the 2009 event (but VAT will increase to 20% next year).
The Premium Early booking discount is available for bookings received at the Registration Office by by 30 March 2011. This booking discount offers two important and considerable benefits:
Both options have the potential to allow departments to save costs and help them afford to send more delegates to take advantage of the comprehensive Congress lecture programme. Either way, delegates are the main beneficiaries of such an initiative, which is designed to enhance the value of this important event.
The Early Booking discount is available for bookings received at the Registration Office by 30 June. This discount is retained for those not able to take advantage of the Premium Early option – see the relevant rates at the Fees & Booking page.
The Biomedical Science Congress has grown to become the largest and most important meeting of its kind in the UK. Each event sees an increase in content, more exhibitors and consistently high attendance. For biomedical scientists at all levels, Congress has proved to be a vital element of their scientific, professional and vocational development.
The IBMS will publish the Congress programme early next year, circulated first with the February issue of The Biomedical Scientist and online. In publishing the programme in February, the IBMS is providing each potential delegate with an early opportunity to assess the value of attending Congress.
The Biomedical Science Congress is now an important part of biomedical science – an event at which all the key issues are addressed. Over the three days of Congress, delegates will have the opportunity to absorb a greater amount of scientific information, handle more products and equipment – and further their CPD needs – than at any other event in the year.
Once again, Congress will take place at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Birmingham, a venue that consistently scores highly in delegate satisfaction surveys, which the IBMS has adopted as 'home' for its major biennial meeting. So, keep the end of September next year free, and make a note of the dates: 26–28 September 2011.
To obtain more information specific to individual needs, contact the Registration Office on 01892 518877 or email ibmscongress@stepex.com. The registration team will be pleased to answer any questions on the registration procedures and how to qualify for the Premium Early or any other discount.
